Teaching is an essential component in a musician's life. Performing and teaching are mutually beneficial aspects of my career. I have played the violin since I was a small child, and throughout my life, my experience as a musician has provided me several educational opportunities. I thrive on sharing my love for the instrument with my students on a weekly basis. My lessons create a learning environment where my students feel valued and strengthened in their musical efforts.
I have over 10 years of experience in teaching through the University of Columbia-Missouri during my undergraduate/graduate years and privately. I believe in tailoring the lessons based on the student's personality and learning style.
My current and former students include winners of the MMTA/MTNA State competition as well as members of the Missouri Civic Orchestra and the Missouri Conservatory Orchestra.
I integrate the Suzuki repertoire along with scales, etudes and additional repertoire during lessons. I offer weekly private lessons year round to students of all abilities and ages. Parents of young students are required to attend lessons. Seasonal student recitals, yearly competitions and auditions are encouraged.
